California law (Water Code Section 10726.4) requires you to report your actual groundwater extraction to your GSA every year. That legal requirement does not change.

Digital fingerprints are created
Each step generates a digital fingerprint, like a tamper-evident seal on a medicine bottle.
Fingerprints are chained together
The fingerprints are linked. If anyone tampers with any step, the entire chain breaks and the tampering is immediately detectable.
One verification code summarizes everything
The final report includes a single verification code that summarizes the entire chain. An auditor can verify your entire season's data with that one code.
Raw data is never stored
Your raw sensor readings are never stored in our system. Only the digital fingerprints are kept.

What If My Sensor Goes Offline?
IrriMAX sensors occasionally lose connectivity. Here is exactly what happens.
Short Outage
We estimate your readings using your last known data plus official CIMIS weather station data. Labeled clearly as an estimate with a documented uncertainty percentage.

Medium Outage
We use data from the nearest similar sensor site in your area. We document which site was used and why.

Long Outage
We use historical data from the same period in prior years (requires 3+ years of data).

Extended Outage
We declare the gap honestly. No credits for that period.

In every case, the data quality is sealed into your attestation. We cannot quietly upgrade an estimate to look like a live reading after the fact. The system is designed to be honest by default.

California Water Code Sections 10720-10737 require farmers to report groundwater extraction annually. AgWaterAI does not change this requirement. Your SGMA report still contains your actual extraction numbers as required by law. What AgWaterAI adds is verifiable proof that your numbers are accurate.
VWBA 2.0 Methodology

Farmer Privacy
